About the course

Russian for Life and Work online course was developed by St Petersburg University on the basis of the requirements for the development of educational courses in Russian for foreign citizens approved by the Working Group for the Improvement of Testing Systems of Russian as a Foreign Language with the support of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation (Order of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation No 452 dated April 25, 2024).

This online course was created in five language versions specifically for migrant workers from Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, China, Turkey and for representatives of English-speaking countries. The course is designed to accelerate the learning of Russian to the extent necessary to pass the Russian as a Foreign Language exam, the history of Russia and the fundamentals of the legislation of the Russian Federation in order to obtain a work permit or a patent (level 1), as well as to prepare for successful socio-cultural adaptation in Russia.

During the course you will learn the story of your compatriot's life in Russia. By following the stories of the main character, you will gain experience into situations that are relevant to modern Russian society.

Russian for Life and Work is a self-study course. The course consists of 64 lessons with the approximate length of 30-45 minutes. Each lesson includes: video, audio with exercises and a lexico-grammatical test of the exam type with self-check. At the end of each lesson, 66% of the questions must be answered correctly in order to proceed to the next lesson. You can complete them at your own pace without defined times. You will be able to watch and listen to the lessons in a mode that is convenient for you.
